More Opposition to Proposed Race Track

Continued from previous page...

Our home is within one mile of I-94, and with any window open in the house, the noise from the interstate is audible inside the house. The interstate noise is plainly audible from the front or backyard. No one I know is foolish enough to believe that “high tech” sound barriers will silence the noise and din from a racetrack of this enormous size and complexity. We will be inundated with the raucous, unrelenting noise of the cars and the crowds evenings and weekends when we would like to be relaxing and enjoying our homes. (Perhaps the developer would like to buy new noise-deadening windows and air conditioners for all the residents in the area? I seem to remember that as a solution for the residents in the communities around the Minneapolis/ St. Paul Airport.) Quiet backyard barbecues or naps in the chaise lounge will be a thing of the past if this project is built.  Our property values will decline, and the quality of life in our community will degrade. The inevitable “support services” for the crowds will further degrade the quality of our community, and alcohol-related crimes will rise astronomically. The economy may be down, but this is not the kind of business we want to attract to Big Lake.

BIG LAKE DOES NOT WANT A RACETRACK!!!!  This is not an “amenity” that local residents want. Tell the developer to build it somewhere else, far, far away! I strongly urge you to oppose any and all measures that will bring this project to my backyard.

Sincerely,

Kathy Ziebarth
