MN/DOT Camera Online in Big Lake
You may not have noticed the new set of eyes perched above Highway 10 in downtown Big Lake, but chances are they’ve noticed you. The "eyes" belong to a recently installed MN/DOT camera, atop the southeast corner of Highway 10 and Lake Street.

Editorial - Weekend Library Hours
BigLake.com applauds the Great River Regional Library system for undertaking its study regarding extended weekend hours. Presently the system’s branches are closed on Sundays and maintain only limited hours on Saturdays. The extension of weekend hours will make the libraries more accessible to working adults who are unable to visit their local library during the workweek.
Unfortunately, the system will seek to offset any extended weekend hours with reductions to its current schedule. This curtailment of hours could be avoided by better utilization of currently available resources. In particular, the “Friends of the Library" program is an underutilized resource that could be employed to provide extended hours at branches where the program exists. These volunteers could provide basic staffing for the system’s libraries at little or no cost.
